I recently found the 5 CD set for Far Cry 1 x86 bit, and was hoping to install it on my x64 bit windows 7 laptop. I have run the game successfully on Windows 7 64 but I have a DVD copy. It sounds like your problem is with the installer rather than the game. I would try running the installation programme as an administrator (right click and run as administrator) If that doesn't work try running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP 2 which was the op system that was current in those days.Also it is worth trying your key on Uplay just in case Ubisoft allows you to do a digital download. Probably won't work because Far Cry predates Uplay but worth a shot. It is a long shot really but Uplay is Ubisoft's answer to Steam for buying and playing digital download games.
It is much less popular than Steam but the only reason I recommend it is that Far Cry is a Ubisoft game and they do offer a digital download version.You can download the client here:You probably have to create an account with Ubisoft to use it.When it is installed you look under the 'My Games ' tab and it should have a link for 'activate a product' - this will allow you to enter a CD code.To be honest this is unlikely to work because Far Cry is an old game. Try the admin mode / Compatibility mode thing first.
