But we could finally publish the code of our work. I also have a previous version that is not compatible but is working the same way.I found a similar program in the name of. Gifshuffle also offer build in encryption and compression. Apparently it is not compatible with our SGPO, even if compression and encryption is not used.I am in the process of replacing the GIF handeling function from Gifshuffle by PNG one's based on LIBPNG. I made good progress even if the difference in the way GIF and PNG support transparency make it difficult.
I had to interrupt my development in a middle of a bug finding session to work on higher priority task. Restarting to work on it might be painfull, but I have good hope to finish that project.Unfortunately this Pngshuffle will not be compatible with SGPO and maybe not with Gifshuffle. But on some picture with specific caracteristic the GIF palette hidding the message and the PNG palette hidding the message might be the same. This will only be true if there is no transparent color, and all the color in the palette are really used in the picture. If those condition, hidding a message into a GIF with gifshuffle, converting it to PNG with something like gif2png and then decoding with pngshuffle should give you the message back. Thepicture is in no way modify, just the order of the color within the paletteis slightly modify in order to keep our secret message. The compressionor size of the file won't be change at all. A viewer won't be able to knowwhat are the change. Of course, someone with the program will be able toretreave the secret message. And someone looking at the right place mightnotice that the order of the color within the palette is a be unusual (atleast not sorted).What do the program do?There are two basic function for the program. One is to generate a graphicfile where there is an hidden message and the other is to retrieve themessage witch is incorporated into the graphic file.Because there is absolutely no secret within the method we use, anybodycan retrieve the message if he have the program/knowledge.It is possible to retrieve something from a graphic file where nothinghave been hidden.
