HOW TO DATE A BURNY GUITAR.If you are looking for information to date an old BURNY guitar, you are in the right place. Burny 1981-89.From 1981 to 1991, guitars were made by Tokai, Fujigen (until early 90s), Kasuga, Matsumoku ( 1982 to 1986) and Dyna Gakki (1987-89).Regarding the BURNY Les Paul models (RLGs), in 1982-83 the “ Super Grade” script is placed a little lower, the “ model ” is exactly the same high as the G and D tuner.BURNY Les Paul Standard RLGs (1983, 1988 and 1988).Up until 1982 the FLGs have serial numbers stamped on the back of the headstock. From 1982 until 1985 no serial numbers on the headstock, but some of them have them in the neck pickup cavity.In 1988-89, the BURNY Les Paul (FLGs) have single ring tuners and low script on the headstock, lower the G and D tuners. From 1985 until 1989 no serial numbers on the FLG guitars.The bell-shape cover with a thin white band and ridges sticking out from the side are found on mid-1980s to early 1990’s models.According to some authors not many BURNY guitars were made at the Fujigen factory. In the late 1980s/early 1990s there would have been no Fujigen BURNY guitars because FujiGen stopped most of its set neck production to mainly make bolt on Fender like guitars.Current Japanese made BURNYs are probably produced by Tokai.The BURNY acoustic guitars up to 1982 were probably made by Hayashi Gakki and after 1982 by Headway.
